CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Follow all maintenance procedures, and ensure the completion of mechanical activities according to standard without causing any further damage to any component / system / equipment.
• Ensure equipment isolation, adhere to working at height and confined space standards/ procedures, and conduct pre-start checks/ inspections.
• Carry out mechanical repair and preventative maintenance to maintain Plant & Mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve production and cost targets.
• Carry out troubleshooting, fault finding and corrective maintenance in order to solve unplanned equipment unavailability events.
• Ensure that maintenance practices result in maximum equipment availability.
• Utilise work instructions to determine job requirements, including job sheets, quality and quantity of materials/ resources etc.
• Perform PM inspection according to the maintenance requirements and ensure preventive maintenance compliance.
• Conduct Mobile and Plant equipment upgrades/ modification as required.
• Removal of pump components & replacement.
• Provide accurate and timely feedback to the First Line Leader on conditions that may affect functionality of equipment.
• Ensure First Line Leaders and all stakeholders are kept informed of equipment availability status.
• Identification of mechanical equipment and resources, and selection and inspection of tools/ equipment.
• Follow up of outstanding maintenance/ repairs.
• Complete shift handover process.
• Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills, and develop full potential.
• Under the direction of the First Line Leader, provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experience personnel.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

• Full Technician / Trade Certificate in a Mechanical discipline

Experience Requirements:

• Must have at least three years’ experience in a similar role (Mechanic).

Skills / Knowledge Requirements:

• Fault finding/ troubleshooting skills

This role reports to the First Line Leader Geology and the role holder will be accountable to ensure that geology production, grade control and QAQC works are performed according to best practice to minimize ore loss/ dilution and to enhance smooth mining operations in a safe and cost effective manner.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure that best practices are employed in grade control sampling to avoid sample contamination in the field and ore spotting to minimize ore loss/dilution.
• Monitor all ore blasts, transform and mark up digblocks to enhance smooth mining operations in a safe and cost effective manner.
• Ensure all drilled holes picked by survey are logged and interpreted on a daily basis to avoid backlogs.
• Liaise with the Mine Surveyors to facilitate optimal pit pick-ups and mark outs.
• Actively participate with the Grade Control Drilling and Mining Operators in conducting site preparations and mining activities.
• Ensure all types of Geological Samples are taken and submitted to the Laboratory according to the site QA/QC standards.
• Ensure all QAQC issues are sorted out immediately and remedial actions are taken to avoid reoccurrence.
• Map all exposed areas (walls and faces) in the pit without causing any interruption to operation and capture all mapped data immediately to ensure that the database is updated.
• Advise the Drill and Blast Engineers on findings that may affect blasting efficiencies and any geotechnical impacts on weekly basis.
• Plan blast monitors in ore zones and ensure each monitor hole is drilled for blast movement monitoring.
• Timely install and detect blast balls for transformation to avoid delays on operations.
• Ensure that Drill Patterns are available and that the Drill Hole Register and Drill Plans are updated daily.
• Ensure Sample Submission in a timely manner.
• Ensure reduction in ore loss/dilution and reduction in grade variation between predicted and milled head grade as well as Material Tracking.
• Train the Geological Technicians and Assistants.
• Contribute actively, think critically and support peers during daily and weekly production and planning meetings.
• Ensure that all safety incidents are reported and investigated according to procedure and on time.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification Requirements:

• Tertiary Degree in Geology/ Geological Engineering
• Post graduate studies in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Mining Engineering will be and added advantage

Experience Requirements:

This role reports to the General Manager and the role holder will be accountable to provide leadership and systems that deliver industry best practice in asset reliability management in a 1 – 2 year period.
This is a fixed term contract role with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine Overview
Bulyanhulu commenced commercial production in 2001 and has now produced over 3 million ounces to date. The mine is in northwest Tanzania, in the Kahama district of the Shinyanga region, approximately 55 km south of Lake Victoria and 150 km southwest of the city of Mwanza, a regional business and economic hub.

Bulyanhulu is a narrow-vein gold mine containing gold, silver and copper mineralisation in sulphides. The mineralisation of Bulyanhulu is associated with steeply-dipping reefs. The current Life of mine is currently estimated to be more than 30 years, based on its proven and probable gold reserves of 9.5 million ounces.

Bulyanhulu is an underground mine with shaft and ramp access, which is transitioning to long-hole as its principal mining method.

The process plant currently has capacity to process an average of 3,300 tonnes of ore per day, (or c. 1.1 million tonnes per year) and produces both doré and copper/gold concentrate.

In 2014 a 2.4 million tonnes per year carbon in leach circuit was added to the process plant to re-process tailings.

North Mara Gold Mine Overview

North Mara commenced commercial production in 2002 and has produced over 2 million ounces to date. The current life of mine is estimated to be 9 years based on proven and probable gold reserves of 2 million ounces.

The North Mara gold deposits are situated in the Mara Musoma greenstone belt. The mine is located in northeast Tanzania in the Tarime district of the Mara region. It is around 100 km east of Lake Victoria and 20 km south of the Kenyan border.

There are several types of gold mineralisation including shear-zone-related quartz vein and disseminated gold. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits, Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit).

The process plant has the capacity to process an average of 8,000 tonnes of ore per day, (or c. 2.8 million tonnes per year) and produces both doré.

Deliver a supply plan that satisfies the mine site departments and units
Regular analysis of Supply performance and to work with central supply chain service providers
Ensure that inventory is optimized by utilizing the inventory optimization tool at the right level for maintaining maximum service levels with the support from the central supply team
Effective warehouse management system to optimize cost and fulfilment time and proper safeguarding of assets
Ensure that all of the mine site’s providers live up to the agreed Service Levels (quantity and quality)
Continuous monitoring and reporting on contractors’ performance and service levels
Ensure that suppliers are paid for the services rendered timeously and within contract terms

• Information Technology
Optimize the level of IT services to deliver value/cost ratio
Recommend mine site’s IT service needs and selection of IT solutions in conjunction with the Central IMT services team
Deliver adequate IT Services for all mine site departments and units
Sustainment of mine site Data Centre facilities in conjunction with the Central IMT services team and in accordance with IMT Standard Operating Procedures
