Think, Talk and Practice in
Science (TTPS), is the competition program which helps the students to memorize
and perform different activities practically at the end of the competition.
The project is proposed by Ayubu Kiswaga with the collaboration of
the Open University of Tanzania Teachers/team.
ADVANTAGES OF THIS PROJECT

It increases the number of students taking
science subject.
v
The students learn how to answer the science
questions.
v
It encourages Tanzanian students to study science
subjects.
v
It increases learning capability of the
students.
v
Students is able to discover science matter and
applications in science subject including its applications at the end of the
competition.
STRUCTURE OF THE COMPETITION
v
Different groups of student should be organized
of maximum four pupils in different secondary schools in Tanzania.
v
Those groups will compete each other up to the
national level.
v
The competition will start first to the selected
schools in different region and city in Tanzania.
v
The participants should be only o-level students
having an identity card of his/her school.
v
The subjects will involve science subject like
Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics etc.
v
The students must answer the question within
Five (5 seconds) and is allowed anyone within the group to answer that question
which belong to them without exceed time limit.
v
Each region should have only one group or two
depending on the number of schools in that region.
v
Those groups from each region will meet on the
region that is going to be selected.
v
The best five groups they must make/create and
think from the theory of science that can have an addition points to them that
will keep them to the final competition and to show to the audience on TV.
v
The first group will be awarded a special
selected gift compared to the other seconds and third group.
MODE OF QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.
v
The questions will be asked only one out of five
second for them to give answers.
v
The answer should be short clearly and
understood for everyone who risen the participants.
v
The management will receive different questions
and answers from anyone who is out of the competitors and schools which
involves the present groups on that time.
v
The management will receive comments and advice
that will led the project successfully.
v
Those questions and answers will be uploaded to
the website of the TTPS ( (www.ttpstanzania.blogspot.com).
PROJECTION OF ACTIVITIES AND TIMELINES
The exercise of trying to squeeze
this program is no easy task. We have discovered there is no one time that is
going to work for both sets of majors. Presently, we are proposing the
following schedule; however, with the onset of block scheduling being
implemented this fall, things could change:

Timeline:
The program is set up to deliver
background information and general syllabus content during the once-weekly school
sessions. Later in the quarter, students will utilize this time to go into an
elementary school and deliver a lesson plan.

First
stage
o
Contact numerous the numerous best schools in
Tanzania which performs better in National Examination.
o
Providing seminal to all teachers in selected
schools on how to train their students to answer TTPS questions and how it can
be applied in science.

Second
Stage
o
Establish contact with local elementary schools
in order to establish pilot sites for the TTPS competitions. Eventually solicit
their confirmation to participate in the competitions.
o
Possibly attend an interview suitable for our
purpose to get students for competitions.

Third
stage
o
To choose the best students from each region in
Tanzania from their internal schools competitions.
o
Collecting them to one announced place in each
region in Tanzania for the purpose of finding the best four students in each
region.
o
Then the competitions should be done according
to kanda.

Fourth
stage (should be done on December 2016)
o
Taking those students to one area for national
level.
o
To start first round of the competitions in
group from each region on the first week.
o
Then the winner from each part will move to
another quota stage on the following week.
o
The winner from the quota stage will direct move
to another half final stage on the following week.
o
Then the final stage will be around the forth
week from the day of competitors started to alive the required area for
competitions.
o
Practical sections (Student is required to
design any thing to show the mass what they leant from the TTPS competitions).
